Rally against Trump's Federalizing the National Guard

  • Esther Short Park 605 Esther Street Vancouver, WA, 98660 United States (map)

Join us to rally against Trump federalizing the National Guard in Los Angeles, where immigration raids have been met with protests.

We’ll gather at the bell tower at Esther Short Park. Bring signs to call attention to Trump’s use of the military as a needless escalation and a publicity stunt.

Background: Trump has deployed the National Guard without being asked to do so by state or local authorities, under a law intended for response to invasion or rebellion. California Governor Gavin Newsom called Trump’s actions “purposefully inflammatory” and said the deployment was “not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because they want a spectacle,” acccording to Reuters.

The deployment of 2,000 troops is responding to protests the same Reuters article described as attended by “a few hundred people” and “some 60 people” — with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth implying that Marines at nearby Camp Pendleton could also be deployed.

Please sign up so we know how many to expect.
